‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 spoilers: More on the future of Caroline, Stefan

For those of you who enjoy the relationship between Caroline and Stefan on “The Vampire Diaries,” the good news that we have for you at the moment is that this is something that is going to continue to be a huge part of the show. As for those of you who are not big fans … well, you are just going to have to grin and bear this story. It does not appear as though the show is deviating from this at any point in the near future.

In setting up this relationship to TV Guide, show executive producer Caroline Dries made it clear that the events of the end of season 6 should not be thought of too much as an indication of where the couple’s future may lie. there are some changes that are coming for them, coupled with a pretty hefty amount of relationship ups and downs:

“Their relationship is coming in stages … Just because two people kiss doesn’t mean they’re going steady or whatever the term is now. So, they’ll have their starts and stops a bit, but we’ll explore each of those chapters of the relationship.”

By the end of this season, or possibly even the midway point, you may get a better sense just of what the long-term future of these characters are. Given that we’ve been set up now to think that Damon’s one true love is Elena, we have few other explanations for Stefan and Caroline other than that they are endgame.
