‘MasterChef’ season 6, episode 16 preview: Gordon Ramsay gets angry (no surprise there)

MasterChefWe’re really not going to sit here and pretend that the “MasterChef” preview tonight was a surprise, mostly because we feel like anyone who knows this show well probably saw it coming straight down the line. Yes, Gordon Ramsay is angry inside a restaurant!

The Fox series tends to do at least one of these challenges every season, and for the most part our reaction to it is “meh.” We don’t really like it when this show plays like “Hell’s Kitchen,” and we don’t necessarily think that a MasterChef needs to know how to cook on the line so much … but that’s just us, since the show clearly does this every year as a test and for some necessary drama. We prefer more of the creative tasks, since so many of these contestants could end up become cooking teachers and private chefs.

What is most exciting about the final six (Katrina, Stephen, Derrick, Hetal, Claudia, and Nick) is that we don’t think that there is a clear-cut favorite of the bunch. Not only that, but we don’t think anyone is a lock to go home. Nick improved his stock by winning the first challenge tonight, and while Katrina has struggled lately, she has shown a few flashes of brilliance over the course of the competition.

We’ll have some more on this episode moving into next Wednesday, but it’s fair to say from here on out, the stress level is only going to continue to exponentially increase for these cooks.
