‘Bachelor in Paradise 2’ review: Did Juelia Kinney pick Joe Bailey or Jonathan Holloway?

Juelia 2Tonight, “Bachelor in Paradise” brought us plenty of chaos in Mexico. Did it also cause some heartbreak? We’re not sure about that, but it did have one of the more disappointing finishes in recent memory courtesy of what Joe Bailey managed to pull off.

Did we get the feeling that Jonathan Holloway and Juelia Kinney were meant to go the distance? Probably not, but they were much more likable over the course of most of the season than anything that we saw with Joe, who has very clearly established himself as the jerk of the season. He is using Juelia mostly to stick around, in the event that Samantha shows up and he can ask her on a date. It’s a pretty terrible thing to do, especially for a hypothetical romance that may or may not even happen.

The fact that Joe is around next pretty much makes it clear that Juelia continues to want him around.

The only thing that makes this entire episode all the stranger is the show for some reason deciding to not wrap up the Rose Ceremony, even though it is pretty clear for the most part what is going to happen. The only “mystery” is what Clare, following that extremely self-righteous speech earlier in the cocktail party, is going to do with her rose. She doesn’t have a big connection with anyone, and for some reason that led to her making a grand speech about how there are not too many people there for love. Oookay then.

Overall, a decent episode of the show. Did we really need that many mariachi singers on Tenley’s date? Seriously? Grade: B-.
