‘UnREAL’ episode 9 reaction: Constance Zimmer on Quinn’s threat to Rachel

QuinnWe feel like we are ultimately driving it into the ground at this point proclaiming that “UnREAL” is the best show on TV this summer, but when something is this good it’s hard not to yell it from a mountaintop! This is a series that is bringing so much drama to the table, and also supplementing that with great characters and performances. Constance Zimmer has been one of our favorites since the beginning, and you could argue that Quinn made one of her lowest blows yet, threatening Rachel to join her at a new production company or run the risk of a certain tape with her and Adam coming out for all to see.

So why is Quinn so desperate to continue working with Rachel? It’s complicated, and we feel like Zimmer explains this really well to The Hollywood Reporter. Obviously there is that selfish desire to have good people on her team, but there may also be, to a certain extent, a feeling on Quinn’s part that she actually is helping:

“The mother-daughter relationship comes into play, trying to [get her to] learn from my mistakes. Rachel doesn’t realize yet how much she is like Quinn, and that, if she was in a cabin in the woods, she’d be miserable [by] day two. Rachel’s is still struggling with who she wants to be. She thinks she wants to be the housewife, sitting in the house and happy with her husband, but she really gets off —[Everlasting] is like a drug and I’m the drug dealer. It’s this addiction and I don’t know if Rachel could handle being without it. Quinn knows that from experience and is trying to relay that to her, but also Quinn needs her. Quinn will do whatever it takes to keep her. She’s doing this out of love for Rachel, believing that she knows Rachel better than she knows herself.”

The promo that aired after Monday’s episode more or less gives away whether or not Rachel runs off with Adam; we won’t spoil that here, but let’s just say for now that the drama regarding Quinn and some of these characters is far from over. Also, the show is coming back for a second season, and we figure there will be more opportunities for drama then as well. How can you have a season 2 without Quinn?
