‘Arrow’ season 4 debate: Is this the year for Oliver Queen’s kid to surface?

Arrow -There are a variety of different mysteries out there when it come to “Arrow,” and one of the largest loose ends is the fact that Oliver Queen has a child living in Central City that he does not know about. This story was first introduced near the end of season 2, as Moira Queen neglected to tell Oliver (before she died) that she paid off a former fling of his to go away so that he never knew that she was expecting a child with him. The woman on the show has not been named, and neither has the kid.

Last season, this story resurfaced when Oliver ran into this woman briefly at Jitters, but she decided not to tell him the truth about his child. There is of course speculation already that this child could end up being Connor Hawke, who in the comics succeeds Oliver as the Green Arrow. However, we should also comment here that there is no confirmation that something similar will happen on the show since we all know that “Arrow” isn’t afraid to deviate from the comic world and try new things.

The obvious advantage of bringing the kid on is that you don’t just have this floating around out there anymore. It is frustrating to know that the kid is out there somewhere and we haven’t got a chance to actually meet them yet. We also know that with Barry Allen saving the day in Central City, it is bound to come out. If you are worried about the child integrating into the show and not quite fitting into what’s already been established, we could see making it into a slow process where we start to see more and more of him as a good way to do that.

As for the biggest disadvantage, it is simply that child characters are sometimes hard to include into a show like this. It could still be interesting for “Arrow,” though, given that Diggle’s daughter is really the only child we have seen on a regular basis … and she is just a baby. If there is uncertainty surrounding this kid, we will not be shocked to see the reveal dragged on for as long as possible.
