Teen Choice Awards 2015: Tyler Blackburn, Tyler Posey, David Lambert up for Summer TV Actor

We are starting to get to the end of our Teen Choice Awards nominations series, at least provided that the show (which airs on Fox August 16) does not suddenly start to release another wave of nods to go along with the ones that are already out there.

There is some intrigue to the Choice Summer TV Star: Male category, and not just because there are a couple of clear contenders for the surfboard. This is one of the few categories where you really have a variety of different genres competing against one another at the Teen Choice Awards, so you get to truly see where the heads of many teens are at when it comes to what they are really enjoying and rallying behind these days.

For those who do not know, we are spotlighting a different category in this series every day, and we’ll give you the full results of our poll voting before the show airs, just to have some cross-comparison between what is on TV and what CarterMatt readers think about these categories.

The nominees

Tyler Blackburn, “Pretty Little Liars”

David Lambert, “The Fosters”

Ross Lynch, “Teen Beach 2”

Tyler Posey, “Teen Wolf”

Gregg Sulkin, “Faking It”

Mike Vogel, “Under the Dome”

Who will win – Go ahead and cross off Vogel, since that’s not really a “teen” show. Meanwhile, “Faking It” is not really on the air right now and won’t be until late August. We feel like the race here is probably between two men named Tyler, while Lynch could be a good underdog because he may have some fans from his other work supporting “Teen Beach.” We’re leaning towards Posey right now, but this one should be competitive.

Who should win – We’re going right now almost at a dead heat between Posey and Lambert, who we feel have really gotten to do the most interesting stuff on their respective shows as of late. In general Posey’s actual performance does sometimes get overlooked, mostly because of the heavy presence of special effects on his show.
