‘UnREAL’ episode 9 preview: Is Quinn out to blackmail Adam and Rachel?

Tonight’s new episode of “UnREAL” was complicated, mostly in that we saw Rachel, through some tricky negotiations, seem to warm Adam up to the possibility of negotiating into a spin-off show for “Everlasting” that would be the perfect compromise of what he wanted coupled with what production would.

Oh, and then he slept with Rachel, and now everything is hitting the fan. Somehow, Quinn got a hold of the footage of the two parties doing the deed, and she is now blackmailing him: Either he agree to go forward with the original plan of giving the show a wedding (and consequently more ratings), or she releases the tape. This is a next-to-impossible situation for him to be in, mostly because at this point he has to realize that it is not just about him anymore. He has the feelings of someone else to concern himself with … provided of course that Rachel was not complicit in the plan.

For the record, we don’t think that Rachel had any clue that she was being recorded when she did this, mostly because she seems genuinely shocked by what Quinn, who is clearly taking out some of her rage here on Chet betraying her so soon after becoming engaged, is up to. We also think that she would not be okay with footage of herself in this position being out there, even if she knew it was probably just a plot to get him to sign on the dotted line.

To us, this feels mostly like both Adam and Rachel have been the victim of some sort of betrayal, but what do they do in this position? Also, what happens when Jeremy finds out about this little tryst, and what was on the flash drive Quinn took from the safe? So many questions, and just two more episodes left before we start to uncover it all.
