‘The Blacklist’ season 3 spoilers: Stories ahead for James Spader, Megan Boone in early going

The Blacklist logo any seasonThanks to the summer hiatus, we have not been particularly blessed with a wide array of stories on NBC’s “The Blacklist.” With that being said, we are very much pleased to see that this drought could be ending courtesy of some of the news we have now!

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, season 3 is going to begin in a very difficult position given that Liz and Red are on the run. Both James Spader and Megan Boone’s characters are going to still be in America, and will have to go their separate ways at least temporarily in order to keep from being found out. This sort of road-trip feel for the show is exciting to us, mostly because it is so different than the format of the first two seasons.

One of the obvious structural questions that we have at the moment is this: Is there a way where the show gets back to being what it once was, with Liz and Red working with the task force to capture some of the most feared criminals in the world? Sometimes, you really can’t go back, and it would be difficult for the show to try and justify something like this happening without going into overdrive to create some sort of explanation for it.

This third season of the show is to us a pivotal one when it comes to the series’ longevity. At this point NBC has made it clear that they are not moving the show back to its previously-successful timeslot, and so it has to find a way to achieve some steady ratings while also bringing the storytelling back to the level we feel like it was during a great chunk of the third season.
