Renewals: ‘Doctor Who’ season 10 official; AMC orders ‘Turn: Washington’s Spies’ season 3

Doctor Who -There is a good bit of a reason to celebrate for many today, provided of course that you are a fan of some select TV shows.

Through a BBC guide, it was basically confirmed first and foremost that we will see a tenth season of “Doctor Who.” The series, which stars Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, has been one of the network’s largest international hits, and it is a staple at conventions all over the world. The biggest surprise to some may just be that this order for more episodes is coming before season 9 even starts to air on the network, which it will do in September. The only question that we foresee some out there having is whether or not this upcoming season will be the last for one of the stars. Many Doctors and Companions have a limited life of just a few seasons at best, and there was already talk as of last year that Coleman could decide to walk away. Ultimately, we suppose we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

On a different note, we’re also hearing now via AMC that “Turn: Washington’s Spies” will also be coming back for a third season. We’re not shocked necessarily about this, even if it is not a ratings smash. It’s a solid show that just doesn’t get a lot of attention.

In a statement confirming this, president of AMC Charlie Collier had the following to pass along:

“We loved what we saw creatively from the Turn: Washington’s Spies team in Season 2, and the show achieved something that is increasingly rare in television today – a growing audience during the season … Turn continues to attract a dedicated and distinctively upscale audience across multiple platforms.”
