‘Big Brother 17’ review: Did someone throw the Battle of the Block?
“Big Brother 17” has already become somewhat of a madhouse, and on tonight’s episode what we were the most interested to see is what the show would give us from the live feeds. There is so much for them to use!
Eviction aftermath – Major props to CBS for giving us the full montage of everything that happened with Audrey leading up to Jace’s eviction. Really, major props for the editing of the entire show! We know that it is impossible to really include every bit of footage into the show, they did show the complicated dynamics with Audrey, Shelli, and Da’Vonne that helped explain some of the moves that were made later on.
Also, can we cheer for a minute CBS even giving us the crazy story about Becky being hit by a train? We never thought that this would make it to the air, but now everyone out there can rejoice getting to be a part of this insane narrative that she’s cooked up.
Nominations – As you knew, Becky nominated Steve and Jason, while Shelli put up Da’Vonne and Johnny Mac. What was particularly grand about this was how clueless Becky was the entire time about what the true plan of Shelli really was. She assumed that Audrey was primary target #1, when in reality all Shelli wants to do is get Day out of the game. It’s a simple story to narrate, and CBS told it effectively.
The funniest part of all this was watching John debate whether or not he wanted to throw the Battle of the Block, complete with crazy Diary Room sessions.
The Battle of the Block – This continued the Ginger Fever tradition from Kathy Griffin’s Head of Household competition, and was really about wandering around and positioning cameras in the right spot. It wasn’t the most exciting competition in the world … mostly because it was so much of a landslide. Da’Vonne had such a terrible strategy for this that it looks like Johnny Mac didn’t really have to try hard to throw it … though he didn’t try that hard to compete in it, either. Episode Grade: A-.
