Is ‘Power’ season 2, episode 5 new tonight on Starz?

Independence Day is a 24-period meant to celebrate America, barbecue, fireworks, and as many patriotic outfits as humanly possible. On the flip side, this is not much in the way of a night for new programming.

With that in mind, can you really be that surprised that Starz is not airing a new episode of their hit show “Power”? You really should not be, given the fact that this is not a day when a whole lot of potential viewers will be home. While this is a network that relies more on subscribers than advertisers and therefore they don’t necessarily need huge live numbers, why not take advantage of them when you can? The show will do better ratings next week than they would tonight.

For those wondering, the next episode airing on July 11 is entitled “Who You Are and Who You Want to Be” (quite a mouthful to say), and the synopsis for it is below:

“Ghost and Tommy hustle to sell their product and pay Lobos; the FBI questions Holly.”

To us, “Power” has become in many ways the sleeper hit of the summer season so far, significantly outpacing the first season in terms of its ratings and scoring an early season 3 renewal because of it. Its ratings have become comparable to another Starz series in “Outlander,” and these two shows could be the cornerstones of the network for a long time in the future if they keep the quality high.
