‘Hell on Wheels’ season 5 video: Promo teases Cullen’s new world

While there may not be a whole lot of new footage in the latest “Hell on Wheels” promo from AMC, we still feel like what is there is probably more than enough to get some fans excited about the new season … as they really should. The upcoming seven episodes this summer have the potential to be game-changers for Cullen Bohannon’s story, as he has left the Union Pacific behind for the Central Pacific, the other side of the railroad that may also serve as a great venue for information on his wife’s whereabouts.

As this promo below shows, though, this new world for Anson Mount’s character is not going to be altogether welcoming. He could be targeted and threatened, and then there are also the powers of Mother Nature at the same time. Trying to build the railroad through the mountains is going to be no easy track, and these workers will be more than likely thrilled just if they can lay out a minuscule amount of track a day.

Of course, there is also still the presence of one person very familiar to Cullen’s backstory, and that is none other than The Swede. He has also headed west, and it feels safe to assume that there is a showdown looming for him and Cullen at some point.

This of this new promo ultimately as an extension of some of our further coverage of the series this week. Yesterday, we posted a lengthy interview with showrunner John Wirth about the new season, and that includes a discussion about everything from the first few episodes to what is being planned for the eventual series finale. If you have not heard, the show premieres on AMC Saturday, July 18.
