Fox developing ‘Fatal Attraction’ TV series, mostly because they can

Fox -Clearly, Fox really wants to remake or revive a whole bunch of stuff. They’re bringing back “The X-Files” as an event series, they have a “Minority Report” show on the way, and if that was not enough for you, there is also talk about them making a “Prison Break” event series. Now, this.

According to Deadline, the network is suddenly intrigued by the idea of developing a new version of the classic Glenn Close movie “Fatal Attraction” for the small screen. While we could sit here and say that this is just another cherry-pick of an already-established idea from Fox, they do have some good people involved here in “Mad Men” alumni Maria and Andre Jacquemetton. Therefore, we’re inclined to believe that there could be something here that eventually becomes a good product.

This show is currently being envisioned as a limited series event, which makes some sense given that there is really only so much story that you can tell here. Also, these sort of stories are increasingly getting more and more attention from networks, given that they require less a commitment from viewers and can still receive some attention after the fact courtesy of the Emmys.

Ultimately, you will have some time to sit around and wait on this one. Fox is probably not going to be scheduling it anytime in the near future; they already have both their plans known for the fall and, at least to a certain extent, for midseason. There is no reason to rush.
