‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: Could Alan Taylor return to direct Emilia Clarke, cast?

Dany -As we’ve said on some of our “Game of Thrones” articles over the course of the past several years, this is one of the best shows out there if you are wanting a prime gig as director. You can transfer this over into getting gigs on big-budget movies, which is exactly what Alan Taylor did with “Terminator: Genisys” featuring a familiar face in Emilia Clarke. Michelle MacLaren was at one point tapped to direct the next “Wonder Woman,” and in looking beyond that David Nutter and Neil Marshall have each received many great offers as a result of doing this show.

However, none of the names that we just mentioned are on the roster for season 6 at the moment. (You can see the list now over here.) Does this mean that they will never return? Far from it. As Taylor himself told Zap2It, he wanted to come back to direct the show again for season 6, but the timing just wasn’t right:

“I want to [direct an episode]. I keep telling them I want to. We actually had a conversation — David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] and I — about next season. It’s just making it happen for real … It was Season 6 that we were talking about, and it wasn’t going to happen. I wanted it to happen, but it’s just a schedule thing. I’ll keep pinning my hopes on the next season.”

If we had it our way, we would throw as many of the show’s big directors as possible into season 7, especially if it is the last season. Taylor, Nutter, and MacLaren should all be there for sure, and maybe some of the best of season 6 can jump in there as well. (Marshall is great if you have another action-heavy episode.
