‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: Actor behind Olly on massive internet hate

Take a look -There are so many different characters on “Game of Thrones” who are really beloved, so at times it has to be hard to be one of the few that everyone seems to legitimately hate. This is something that we saw Jack Gleeson endure throughout his time playing Joffrey, but to a certain extent, he had to take pride in how his performance is one of the reasons why he was so hated. Iwan Rheon is certainly dealing with much of this, as well, for playing Ramsay Bolton.

Then, there is Olly. We imagine that first and foremost actor Brenock O’Connor was receiving mass internet hate mostly because of the fact that he was the “young kid” character Beyond the Wall, and it is so easy to peg that particular person as annoying. Then, you top that off with the fact that he also happens to be a character who put the final dagger into Jon Snow, betraying his trust even if he may have felt in that moment that he had no other choice. Those who were indifferent to Olly more or less went into full-on hate after that moment.

Of course, we’re curious if people trying to shame O’Connor in the streets like he is Cersei on a Walk of Atonement, and in one of the few post-finale interviews he has done with Flicks and the City, he admits that there are plenty of people who are negative towards him for the character:

“I’ve got the fans who are like, ‘Aw no, uh, we love Jon. We’d you have to do this? You’re the worst character in it.’ And then I’ve got the people who understand that it’s not reality, and they’re saying, ‘Oh, well done for the scene although I hate your character.’”

If it is any consolation to Jon fans, there are still those theories that maybe the character is still alive. With that, don’t give up all hope entirely just yet. Things could still change!

Do you think Olly will meet a quick death in season 6? We’re at least presuming he’ll be back. Share below, and click here for some other “Game of Thrones” news.
