‘Ink Master’ exclusive: Brian Stephens on elimination, no regrets and his pick to win

Being the first person eliminated on any reality show is always difficult since there hasn’t been enough time to really show the viewers what the contestant is capable of. On a show like “Ink Master” it feels even more difficult since this is a showcase of someone’s skill in their professional life and one episode in a stressful environment isn’t enough to really get a chance to see what someone can do.

Unfortunately for Brian Stephens he was the first artist eliminated on “Ink Master” season 6 and with a cast full of really solid artists like Brian, it’s hard to see anyone going home this season. This is the first cast that we have felt has equal footing with everyone and it is really anyone’s game to win, so it was disappointing to see Brian go home. We had a chance to chat with Brian about his time on the show, being the first person eliminated and who he’s rooting for to win the whole thing.

CarterMatt.com : How difficult is it being the first person out of the competition?

Brian Stephens: It was difficult, but at the end of the day I did badass tattoos and my clients loved them and loved getting tattooed by me so that’s what matters.

Did you feel that there were other tattoos that should have gone home over yours?

I felt I did not have the worst tattoo on that show and everyone knows that.

Were you surprised that the human canvas jury picked Duffy’s tattoo over some of the others as the bottom tattoo?

Yes, I think there were way worse tattoos then Duffy’s and it’s a shame they didn’t get it right.

If you had a chance for a do over, what would you have done differently in your elimination tattoo?

I would have not gotten eliminated to begin with. I wouldn’t do anything differently. I did a badass tattoo.

Now that you are eliminated, who are you rooting for to win the Ink Master title this year?

I have to go for my mentor MV! He’s the best one there!

Do you have any advice for future Ink Master contestants?

Work hard stay humble and tattoo your a** off.

If people want to book you for a tattoo, what’s the best way to go about doing that?

Best way is emailing me at [email protected]. And my Instagram is @tat2bybry

We want to give a special thanks to Brian for taking the time to chat with us since we know he must be pretty busy after being on a show like “Ink Master” that gives artists a pretty good bump in exposure. We wish we could’ve seen more from Brian on the show, but we are happy we had a chance to see some of his work.
