‘Doctor Who’ season 9 video: Teaser airs during ‘Orphan Black’ finale

Doctor Who -The new season of “Doctor Who” is coming … though it is still at least a few months away.

Tonight during the season finale of “Orphan Black,” the folks over at BBC America were find enough to present a first teaser that was certainly simple. It was the Tardis, the Tardis, and then more Tardis to go along with it. Actually, if  you want to be all technical, we really just saw the police box version of it. This symbol is one of many iconic ones associated with the series right now, and the Doctor alongside Clara will spend plenty of time traveling around in it when season 9 does in fact premiere.

Is it a little unusual for BBC America to air a teaser separate in some ways from the flagship network? Sure, but we don’t imagine that anyone cares that much when this is all we are getting. There will be a proper trailer coming in due time that does release a whole lot more in the way of footage, but we imagine that this one may not turn up until at least San Diego Comic-Con, and it may remain exclusive to attendees there for a time.

Structurally, what we are hearing right now is that season 9 will be constituted of a variety of different two-part installments, which should give this season its own particular flavor and shake it up a little bit from the rest of the seasons before it. Michelle Gomez (pictured above) will return as the Master, and there will be a variety of familiar and new faces, as well.
