NBC airs first ‘Nightly News with Lester Holt’ promo

NBC -Just in case you have been spending time away from the computer over the past several days, you may have missed the breaking news that Brian Williams is officially out as anchor for NBC Nightly News. In his place, we are going to see none other than Lester Holt get the permanent gig. He has already been a guest host of the show for many months, and the first official promos for his new edition of the show started to play over the past 24 hours.

What is curious about this promo first and foremost is word choice, stating that Holt is someone you can “depend on” who will be there for you, and always look to get “to the heart” of every story. NBC seems to be cognizant of the fact that the biggest issue with Williams is a loss of trust. This is extremely important to their attempt to stay credible.

As for whether or not Holt will excel, it’s going to take even more time to figure that out. What we know is that for much of his tenure NBC was the leader, so his expectations are going to be high in the long run. Seeing his ratings now are going to be a little different than when he was guest host, mostly because now we have some confidence in saying that he is not going to be going anywhere.

Of course, we will have some other news very soon when it comes to the changes at NBC, so be on the lookout for that soon.
