‘The X Factor’ alum Fifth Harmony perform on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

The latest -Remember when we thought that the American version of “The X Factor” was going to end up transforming into some sort of enormous hit? At the moment, that definitely does feel pretty far away given that the ratings never met expectations, and the show was canceled after just three seasons.

However, at the same time the show can at least brag about one thing, and that is bringing Fifth Harmony together. Remember, this was a group that originally was named Lylas, and then came up with some series of numbers before eventually settling on what is a far better moniker. They have managed to build a pretty passionate fanbase, and at this point we wonder just how many people actually were around watching them on the second season of the show.

While they’ve had some other singles like “Miss Movin’ On” and “Sledgehammer” hit the radio, “Worth It” is the first one that has really taken off to the point where it is a huge breakout single, and has the girls sitting in the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. This is a major sign of staying power, and they also got a performance last night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” which is one of their biggest performance venues since coming off the show.

If there is one thing that you really should make out of the rise of Fifth Harmony at the moment, it is that patience for the most part is the lead virtue for anyone coming off of a singing competition show. You cannot just be talented and anticipate that the show’s viewership and platform will make you into a star. This is not the way it was during the early days of “American Idol,” when the internet and social media did not make it so easy to be discovered. It’s all about hard work and promotion; Fifth Harmony have put in the hours.
