Teen Choice Awards 2015: Will Chris Colfer, Jaime Camil, Ross Lynch win Comedy Actor prize?

Out of some of the categories that we’ve spotlighted so far in our Teen Choice Awards article series, the Choice TV Actor: Comedy race is actually the closest one to feeling like something that will actually be at the Emmys later this year. We would say that at least four of these people below have a chance of getting nominated either as a lead or supporting actor on that show, but remember here that the TCAs and the Emmys are not so much the same thing. The voters here are looking for very different things.

With that, take a look at some of the nominees for this category below! You can vote for your personal favorite in the poll below, and we are of course going to be adding in some of our personal insight.

The nominees

Andy Samberg, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (Fox)

Anthony Anderson, “black-ish” (NBC)

Chris Colfer, “Glee” (Fox)

Jaime Camil, “Jane the Virgin” (The CW)

Jim Parsons, “The Big Bang Theory” (CBS)

Ross Lynch, “Austin & Ally” (Disney Channel)

Who should win – We feel like Camil is really the perfect combination here of delivering a great performance, while at the same time also being within the right demographic for the show. Ultimately, we do think that he still has an uphill battle given that “Jane the Virgin” has a much smaller following than any of the other shows in this category.

Who will win – While we’re not ruling out “Glee” fans getting Colfer one final award for playing Kurt Hummel, we also still think that Ross Lynch is the favorite coming off of his show’s domination at the Kids Choice Awards. Many of the voters here have reasonably similar taste, given that most young kids are not really online voting. It was in part teens that helped “Austin & Ally” be a big winner there.
