ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5: First look at Kerry Washington’s other upcoming TV gig

Scandal -Sure, Kerry Washington is going to be back on “Scandal” starting this fall as famed “fixer” Olivia Pope, but why not take a minute to enjoy something else that she is going to be up to in the near future?

Attached to this article, you can see Washington in a first-look photo from “Confirmation,” the upcoming HBO film production that will feature her playing the role of Anita Hill, a law professor who played an integral role in the 1991 confirmation hearing of Clarence Thomas, who went on to become a Justice of the Supreme Court. This is a clear opportunity for Kerry to get even more awards-show clout, and she should be great in this story in general.

At the moment, there is an interesting movement when it comes to getting more and more 1990s court cases on the small screen. For example, we also have “American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson” coming to FX next year, and that story is focusing more of the infamous murder case that dominated headlines even more than Thomas’ confirmation hearing.

For those wondering when Kerry returns to playing Olivia Pope again, she will return to the set there starting later this summer. You can expect to see “Scandal” back on the air in late September for the beginning of another 22-episode run. It’s great to see that even with this huge commitment of episodes, she is still finding the time to stretch herself and take on a variety of other gigs.
