‘Call the Midwife’ season 5 spoilers: ‘EastEnders’ star joins Christmas Special

Call the Midwife -It has been a long time since we’ve had much to share in the way of “Call the Midwife” news, and there is a pretty simple reason for that: The show isn’t airing for a long time. The next installment comes on BBC One Christmas Day, and then after that it will be early 2016 before any episodes air at all. For American viewers, the season proper will not begin until most likely March.

Today, we can at least bring to you an update on the upcoming holiday event; specifically, who is playing Santa Claus! Per a report from the Daily Mail, Cliff Parisi of “EastEnders” fame is going to be suiting us as a certain Jolly Old Elf in Santa Claus. There isn’t too much else known about it just yet, but we do personally feel for any human being that has to dress up in that suit in the middle of June. The temperatures are hot too pleasant, even in the cooler UK.

Change has certainly been an important part of “Call the Midwife” through the first four seasons, and we are curious to see what sort of subtle moves are made this time around for the latest batch of episodes. We don’t see anything as enormous as Jessica Raine leaving the show a year ago, but it has been known to surprise us a few times over.

We will have some other news later throughout the filming process, so be on the lookout for some of those.
