‘Doctor Who’ season 9 spoilers: Jovian Wade returns as Rigsy!

There are a pretty wide array of reasons to enjoy “Doctor Who,” but as a writer, one of the things that we do firmly appreciate is how the show reports castings. Rather than letting the rumor mill run completely amok, the BBC series gets out in front of the speculation and releases some official information with official statements attached.

With that in mind, we bring you the official news that Jovian Wade is returning for at least one season 9 episode as Rigsy, who previously played a huge role in the episode “Flatline.” It’s nice to see at least a few familiar faces populate the world this coming season; as you already know, Michelle Gomez will also be making a high-profile return as Missy a.k.a. The Master, who caused great trouble for The Doctor and Clara at the end of this past season.

The episode feature Rigsy’s return is being written by Sarah Dollard (“Being Human”), who had the following to say in a statement:

“Getting to play in the Doctor Who toy box is a dream come true. It’s a total honour to contribute to a show that has brought me such joy as a fan. However, writing for Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman has presented a serious problem: some days I’ve been too excited to actually sit down and type!”

We imagine that getting to work on this show must be a dream, especially if it is something that you have coveted in some way for quite some time. It’s imaginative, outside-of-the-box, and completely allows you opportunities to return and come back for more.
