‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 17 spoilers: The Carisi decision
The upcoming seventeenth season of “Law & Order: SVU” is in a little bit of a different position than many of the other shows that are coming up. Namely here, we are speaking about the fact that filming has already started for at least an episode or two leading up to the hiatus. This is a tradition for the show to get an episode or two in the bank early, and one of the benefits that this presents to us as a news writer is that it also gives us a chance to talk / speculate a little bit in regards to some of the characters.
For example, what could be coming up for Carisi? This is a man with aspirations, and these will be touched on further as he has to decide whether to stay in the police force or ultimately become a lawyer. Speaking on this subject to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Warren Leight passed along the following message:
“He thinks he’s a lawyer already … That’s something that we’ll get to toward the end of next season for him. If you’re going to law school at night as a New York City cop, it [doesn’t happen quickly]. It’s a process. At some point, he’s going to have to think about what he wants for his career. He’s going to have to declare.”
We anticipate Carisi having a larger role on the upcoming season alongside Rollins and Fin, given that they could all pick up some of the slack given the exit of Nick Amaro from the squad. Maybe someone new will join, but that information has not surfaced just yet.

Originally, there were stories saying that Carisi was leaving to go to Law School. Then we found out that Danny Pino wasn’t coming back. I guess Carisi won’t be leaving to go to Law School. NBC looks very bad for letting Danny Pino go. The Comcast Cash Cow looks more like The Comcast Crass Cow for disrespecting Danny Pino and everyone else on SVU last season. Bringing back The Mysteries of Laura and its EXTREMELY OVERPAID CAST was a big slap in the face.
