‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: Nicholas D’Agosto officially promoted to regular

Gotham -You most likely knew that this was coming, but isn’t it nice to have it be official? In a post on Twitter (see below), Nicholas D’Agosto has confirmed that he will be returning to “Gotham” for its upcoming second season as Harvey Dent. Not only that, but he will be a series regular.

D’Agosto made a few sporadic appearances throughout the first season as a man who will be known someday as Two-Face, and ever since it was first reported that he was coming on the show, the suggestion was made that he would have a chance to become a more permanent fixture. While this is not a guarantee that Harvey will appear in every episode, he will at least have a large role in the story and will be locked in by producers. This ensures that he will at least be available. It’s similar in a way to Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne, who were not necessarily a part of every season 1 episode.

We were excited about this casting from the moment it was first reported, mostly because we loved D’Agosto in Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” and while there are some characters we don’t really want to see on “Gotham” just yet (Batman does need some villains who are actually younger than him!), Harvey Dent makes sense. Like Oswald Cobblepot, we should have an opportunity on this series to see more of his rise to power. It’s unlikely that he’ll show off a dark side anytime soon, but having him around is a nice foundation for the character’s journey.

While there is no official premiere date just yet for “Gotham” season 2, we would suggest keeping watch on Monday, September 21. Given that “Empire” has been confirmed for a September 23 start date, this makes the most sense.
