‘Big Brother Canada 3’ exclusive: Pilar Nemer on voting for Sarah, allegiances, and strategy

Pilar -Pilar Nemer told us going into “Big Brother Canada 3” that she really wanted to be like Talla from the first season. She did achieve that when it comes to live-feed entertainment! She was someone who we felt was going to make it to the end of the game for most of the season, but she fell victim to some bad circumstances during the double-eviction.

As with all of the other houseguests who made the jury, we had a chance to speak at length with Pili in an exit interview on Thursday, our first chance to really get unfiltered about the season and to figure out what is really on every houseguest’s mind.

CarterMatt – So what has it been like for you being out of the house so far?

Pilar Nemer – Being in the house is crazy. It’s really hard to hear all of the different conversations that people have. Here, we haven’t seen the show and watch ourselves yet, so it’s still pretty weird.

Have you been told anything by the other players or the media so far that you didn’t know about the other players?

Everyone’s game. Sarah’s game was amazing and there were a lot of things I didn’t know about because I didn’t play the game with her. There are so many things behind the scenes that I didn’t know, but you can’t take it to heart. It’s nothing against anyone. It’s ‘Big Brother’!

Let’s talk for a minute about Godfrey because he was for a while an International Man of Mystery to your alliance since he was trying to downplay how smart he was. Did you really have a sense of who he was in the game?

I didn’t think I could trust him at all. He was my target from day one. I didn’t know who he was, what he was all about, or if I could trust him. I had NO idea, and I didn’t really have to talk to him or approach him at all. There was a time when I put Godfrey up as a pawn that I did try to talk to him, and he explained a few good things and he made some good points. He was a really great, wise man, and people didn’t see [that]. He’s a great social player, he lied when he had to and I respect that.

I don’t regret not talking game to him so much, but there are so many different things that we didn’t know. I underestimated him for sure.

What’s more dangerous in the game to you: Someone who you know is working against you, or someone who is a complete wild card and you don’t know where their head is at?

Good question. I was more scared someone going after me or my alliance, because there were wild cards like Willow, and while I didn’t know where she was at … [you] could easily change her mind. You could always work things out with people. Someone going after you won’t change your mind. If they’re going after you, they’re going after you. You don’t want them in power because they’ll take you out.

Before the game you said that you wanted to play the game like Talla, and you did some Talla-like things in that you got do so some really fun stuff around the house. Do you think now that you played a game like Talla?

I think we’re both really goofy and sometimes we’re both blonde inside! (Laughs.) I am a competitor. I really am, and some people took me for granted and underestimated me. They thought that I was the goofy Talla girl, and thought I couldn’t win anything. I played a social game, I had no regrets other than wishing that I won more comps. Sometimes that makes you a threat, though, if you win comps. I think I had a good social game to get close to the end. So, yes and no!

You did win an HoH, and there were some other comps you were close to winning. Since you didn’t make it to the end, is there any comp that you’re kicking yourself over not winning?

Probably the last HoH! Going into that HoH Zach left, we knew that we had to win it or one of us [between Ashleigh and I] had to win it, or one of us was going home. Losing that one was the worst. It was anyone’s game, and anyone could have won that. That is one that I’ll look back on, and of course that PoV, but it was either going to be Ashleigh or I [going depending on who won that].

The moment that you realized that it was Godfrey and Sarah in the final two, did you know who you were voting for?

At first when it was the final three, I knew I was voting for Ashleigh. She had my vote no matter what. I was open to speeches no matter what … when she wasn’t safe, I had no idea who I wanted to root for. At first I was [leaning towards] Sarah because I got to know where she was at [in the game]. She is a phenomenal social player. I really respect her for her game; I really never got to see Godfrey’s game.

If there is a “most improved” prize we could give for exit interviews, we would hand it to Pili. We were a little frustrated with her preseason because she was only offering up super-brief answers to some of our questions, and seemed almost nervous to be talking about the game. However, she did bring forth much more insight here.
