‘Big Brother Canada 3’: Addressing Dr. Will Kirby’s recent comments, US vs. Canada challenge

BB -We will start this “Big Brother Canada” article with a heaping amount of praise for Dr. Will Kirby. He is probably the best person to ever play the North American game, mostly because he was able to strategize and out-maneuver everyone on his way to the title. He never was someone who won competitions, or relied heavily on twists in order to get what he wants.

In a series of posts on Twitter that were deleted, Kirby decided to spew a little bit of fire on the Canadian version of the show, and this is something that elaborated on further in an interview with the Toronto Star:

“As a general rule, I’m very much against twists. They undermine the integrity — is there even any integrity left? — of the game … Fans complain that there are no great strategists anymore, but it is nearly impossible to focus on an intellectual, emotional form of game play when a twist can upend weeks of hard work.

“Extremely boring individuals putting in virtually no effort have won the show and unfair twists have helped some and hurt others. The series needs innovation and the low-hanging fruit are the twists, but any undeserved advantage only taints the entire unscripted television world.”

So why should the Canadian version of the show care about some comments from one of the most prolific people to come out of the U.S. version? It is really so simple as that they should try their best to take input from all sources, and Will is probably the most high-profile alumni of the franchise to echo some of the concerns of many fans. We understand that the Canadian version is a different show than the one in America, but some of the twists this season has been a little too nuts. We prefer the amount of twists in the first season, mostly because we feel like it had the least outside interference … at least in that it didn’t have a twist late in the game where Canada really played a gigantic role in who went home.

Will also said that he would love to see a U.S. versus Canada season, which we actually would be down for a few years down the line. If that happens, we’d hope for something that combined some of what is best of both shows, like the lack of twists in the American version and the style / tasks of the Canadian show.
