‘Game of Thrones’ season 5, episode 7: Lena Headey on Cersei Lannister’s mindset

Cercei -So far on “Game of Thrones” season 5, Cersei Lannister has been rather keen to wield some of her political might in a variety of different ways. She has shown herself to be a quick thinker when it comes to striking out at allies, and making sure that she finds a way that she is standing at center stage. She wants to do more than just survive; she wants to thrive, and that means being more than just the Queen-Mother to Tommen and his new wife Margaery Tyrell.

So with this audacity, though, comes potential consequences that Cersei does have to prepare herself for at almost every turn. This is something that Headey comments on further in a new interview with Zap2It, where she describes a little of how Cersei’s choices could eventually get her in a mess of trouble:

“She’s the person that lives nearby the throne at all times, so I genuinely think she’s like, ‘It’s clearly just going to happen. I’ll just get rid of everybody.’ She’s doesn’t really see the bigger consequence, which is also what I love about her is that. [She’s] a wayward teen. She’s not too savvy about things.”

Does Cersei at the moment seem like she has everything that she wanted when it comes to using the High Sparrow? Sure, but anytime that you align yourself with a group operating under such a singular mission, there is always going to be the potential for danger. You have to prepare yourselves ultimately for the worst.
