‘Arrow’ season 4: What could have been for Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn -We have shown ourselves to already be a known opponent of DC Comics when it comes to how the decide to feature characters across various movies and TV shows. For example, were every product existing in the same universe, then we would understand a character such as Harley Quinn not appearing in the “Arrow” universe. However, they are not. The CW universe is different from the “Gotham” universe, and in turn that is different from the movie universe. Therefore, why be so concerned over who shows up where? It is almost like DC is afraid that a TV show is going to steal the thunder of a character who is going to be appearing on the big screen later, and if the show version is better than the movie one, they are never going to live that down.

For the time being, this seems to very much be what we are encountering at the moment when it comes to the decision to rip Harley from “Arrow” after she made that tiny cameo in the “Suicide Squad” episode. (There was also one that was filmed for the season 2 finale, but was then later cut.) Based on what Willa Holland a.k.a. Thea Queen had to say at MCM London (per Flickering Myth), there were at least hopes at one point to have her be a big part of the show:

“We had big plans for Harley. But, I guess something came down from DC execs that told us to shut it down. I mean we had that tease with the pigtails and the ARGUS outfit but, we’ll never see it. We would love to Harley in Arrow but it will never happen.”

We do wonder to a certain extent if DC would be more lenient after the “Suicide Squad” movie version Harley played by Margot Robbie is out there, but we don’t want to get our hopes up.

Ultimately, that image above may be all you ever see of the character.
