‘The Amazing Race Canada’ season 3: When will it begin?

The Amazing Race CanadaAt this point, we are already starting to miss some of our favorite competitive reality shows. “The Amazing Race” is over at CBS, “Survivor” has been wrapped for a few days, and “Big Brother Canada” is coming to a close this coming week.

Now, we’re waiting for “Big Brother 17” to begin, and also the arrival of the third season of “The Amazing Race Canada,” a show that has delivered at least an equal if not better at times show than the American show. We’re betting that they don’t do some sort of silly blind-date twist this summer! What we do really like about the Canadian version is that they do tend to offer up at least some sort of education about many of the locations that they visit, and they also for the most part handle product integration (always an annoyance to some) fairly well. Last season in particular was a great one, given that we had underdog winners in Mickey & Pete and the first season of the show to feature international travel.

One thing that is also forgotten sometimes is that while “The Amazing Race” in America has been barely staying above water the past year or so in the ratings, the Canadian version of the show is one of the nation’s most-watched series and routinely drew impressive numbers the past two years. We imagine that part of this is due to so many people having an interest in either watching or being on a Canadian version for a good decade, and now they get a chance to.

So when is the new season going to premiere? For now network CTV is not confirming, though they do have a cheesy / very Canadian promo for the new season that you can watch over at the link here. The first two seasons started in July, and that’s a good indicator here since the network would benefit to run it before the start of the fall TV season.

Once the season starts, you better believe that we’ll have some coverage of the show over at the link here. Also, sign up now to score some other TV updates on everything we cover, sent right to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: CTV.)
