‘Royal Pains’ goes all ‘Game of Thrones’ for season 7 promo (video)

The seventh season of “Royal Pains” may not be as far away as you think. While you’ll be without it for one more week coming up, the first of eight episodes this summer will air on June 2 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. It’s a new place for the show, and it is one that we feel should suit it well. There’s not a ton summer competition, and it should have a chance to shine on its own.

Also, we give USA credit for at least a solid attempt at viral marketing in the promo below, playing off of “Game of Thrones” and its classic opening theme for a “summer is coming” montage of moments from the Hamptons. Is it cheesy? Sure, but it’s a reminder in a way that despite some of its drama, this is still a fairly light summer series where you know you’re going to have a pretty good time most weeks. Hank is going to eventually figure out many of his problems, and you’ll get a chance to gawk at some ridiculous Hamptons residences in the process.

We’ve always considered this show a personal favorite, mostly because it is what we are looking for in the summer after spending a good nine months or so covering super-heavy entertainment. It’s a change of pace, and we feel like we need it even more now that some similar network fare like “Psych” has come to a close.

We’re sure that we will have some more updates on the new season before we come around to it airing, so be on the lookout for that.
