Ratings: ‘The Flash,’ ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and ‘The Voice’ finale figures

The FlashWas Barry Allen “fast enough” to speed “The Flash” to a new series high for its season 1 finale? While we cannot necessarily say that, the excellent CW series did accomplish a slightly different feat: Staying consistent in the numbers almost for the entire season.

As a whole, the finale last night drew a very impressive 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and given that it actually ran over three minutes into “iZombie,” we feel like the number will probably tick up in the finals a little later in the day. These were ratings that helped to lift this network to higher heights than it has reached in years. Also, “The Flash” may actually be one of the best shows on TV right now, and that is really saying something given that you are talking about a superhero show that is airing on The CW.

As for the ratings for some of the other big episodes airing on TV last night, the finale for “Dancing with the Stars” brought in an impressive 2.3 rating. What is interesting here is that while singing shows have started to see their numbers decline over the years, the ballroom competition has found its core audience and has shown to be remarkably consistent. A good comparison here is “Survivor” over on CBS, which has maintained a solid rating at around the same level.

As for “The Voice,” it won the night with a 2.8 rating, but we do still wonder if it has a shelf life to a certain degree given that it is the same thing every season. The benefit of “Dancing with the Stars” is that you have different celebrities appearing every time, and that gives you potential for some more fan bases to discover the show.
