‘Dancing with the Stars’ winner Alfonso Ribeiro taking over as ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ host

Dancing with the Stars -“America’s Funniest Home Videos” has managed to secure a new host for the upcoming fall season, and based on what we are hearing right now, they are keeping it within the “Dancing with the Stars” family.

During the season 20 finale of the ballroom dancing competition, it was announced by Alfonso Ribeiro himself that he is taking over for Tom Bergeron as host of the long-running prank show, which has run on ABC for countless years to date. There is a proud legacy with this show and some of the people who have hosted it over the years. Beyond Tom, the most notable host is of course Bob Saget, who made this into a pop-culture institution back before the internet when this was really the only place you could see cat videos on a regular basis.

This should be a great venue for Alfonso to have a little bit of fun. He made a name for himself on “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” but even he probably never joined “Dancing with the Stars” thinking that he would eventually get this gig.

There was not really any significant reason why Bergeron himself decided to step away from the gig; the only real reason that we have heard for it as of late is simply that after so many years as the emcee, he really wanted to do something else. The man clearly has plenty of money at this point as an Emmy-winning host, so that is really not so great of a concern anymore.

So congratulations to Alfonso! We’ll have to see just what the future holds.
