‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 6 finale reaction: The mystery of Callen’s father intensifies
Who is Callen’s father on “NCIS: Los Angeles“? Is the man really dead? There are understandably a variety of different questions that we are still left asking.
Still, we do have a certain appreciation for the way that the cliffhanger was constructed tonight, almost like the modern-day retelling of some noir classic. You had Callen getting some comfort from Sam after thinking that his father was gone. Then, we had the mysterious man drinking his espresso-from-the-ancient-machine at the coffee shop, not saying a word and in possession of a coin.
Our obvious impulse is to say that this man is in fact Callen’s dad, mostly because we commonly find ourselves trying to believe such impulses when it comes to TV-related matters. This is the last image that we are left with, and it is obviously there for a significant reason. (Unfortunately, answers are not coming until fall!)
We are admittedly staring in the face of a rather bizarre situation at the moment. We have praised this show very much for being somewhat speedy this season with finally getting Deeks and Kensi together (just remember how long it took on “Bones” and some other crime shows); however, at the same time this Callen story is dragging. Is Hetty hiding something? Given that there is no guarantee of more show after season 7 given the current ratings, this is something that the writers and producers probably do need to sort out.

I think the IA investigation will definitely be interwoven into Season 7. If “web of lies” by JPK is to be believed I think it will take many episodes to untangle the mess Deeks has created by protecting someone.
I agree with the ratings, for its time slot against Castle they have done well. I do believe Season 7 needs to be stronger and much depends on this upcoming season.
Deeks and DiNozzo meeting, I think will force Deeks to figure out if he wants to make the switch. He already thinks and talks as an agent.
What I don’t want for Season 7 is a return of Ms. Kolcheck. She gives Arkady a bad name!

I think that the show’s ratings are quite good, considering the time slot it is in. However, I would like some more movement in the Callen story, though it is in my opinion that this episode gave us the most Callen backstory yet (even more so than “Reznikov, N.” back in season 5). But, I would like to know more about this “investigation” LAPD IA has opened against Deeks. (Why can’t Deeks just join NCIS already? I mean, he’s been a team member for 5 years, and his girlfriend works there! Why won’t they move the character over already? I was surprised that they even put forth the idea of Deeks possibly joining back in season 1.) We were given some info in one ep, a mention of it in another, and then the story was seemingly thrown to the wind. I mean, they did have the Janvier character overlap in several storylines over two seasons, so it’s not impropable or unusual to have Deeks’ storyline carry over. But, my hope is that they bring it back to the forefront soon after the start of season 7. Who knows, season 7 could be “Densi”-centric – and I am not against that one bit!! Overall, excellent season finale tonight (esp. loved the fact that there was no “To be continued…”), and I can’t wait for the series’ return in September!
