‘The Flash’ season 1, episode 22 preview: Tom Cavanagh on Eobard’s master plan

Reverse Flash -There are a variety of reasons why “The Flash” has been a pretty darn sensational entry into The CW’s schedule this season, but one of the strongest ones is Tom Cavanagh. His portrayal of Harrison Wells / Eobard Thawne has been pretty darn perfect. He is sympathetic when he needs to be, but at the same time also evil. His speech to Cisco in “Out of Time” was heartbreaking. We know that superhero shows often get zero attention in awards season, but we’d consider him to at least be a Best Supporting Actor contender.

Ultimately, we’re going to be rather sad if the character goes before the start of season 2, and his status beyond this year is pretty uncertain. What adds to that uncertainty is Cavanagh’s comments to The Hollywood Reporter that you are going to see Eobard’s true intentions and full scope of his plan before this season ends:

“Absolutely [you will understand him more]. We’re not looking to shortchange people. People have been aboard the ride and that lug is going down the funnel.”

Tuesday night’s episode “Rogue Air” is probably going to feature more villains than any other episode this season so far. However, at the same time it is also going to be featuring more heroes. Be prepared to see Oliver Queen and Firestorm in action at some point. (Just for the record, we think that “Rogue Air” was originally intended to air a week earlier, since otherwise Oliver suddenly having some awareness of who he is would not make any sense.)
