‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7, episode 20 review: How does Howard know Emily?
Is Emily going to fit in with the gang on “The Big Bang Theory”? Raj certainly has some concerns about that, but right now his biggest worry is about his best friend Howard. While for the most part, Howard is probably Raj’s biggest fan, he also loves to poke fun at him any chance he can get. Is Howard going to humiliate Raj in front of Emily?
Raj decides that it’s time for Emily to meet Howard and Bernadette since they are two of the most important people in his life, but with Howard’s love of poking fun at Raj (and sometimes taking it a little too far), he’s worried that the night won’t go as well as he hopes and that Howard may actually scare her off. At the dinner the tables are turned on Hoard when he realizes that not only does he know Emily, but he has a fairly embarrassing story to go along with it. Many years back Howard was set up on a blind date with Emily and when he went back to her place he had severe stomach problems and clogged up her toilet, earning him the nick name “Clogzilla”. With Howard ending up at the “butt” of the joke all night (see what we did there?), Raj is able to relax and everyone has a great time.
Of course this wouldn’t be “The Big Bang Theory” if Sheldon didn’t have some crisis he was facing, but this time it’s a little more legit. He feels that he’s been wasting his life on string theory research and decides to move into a new field after taking Penny’s advice. As he becomes more frustrated he goes on a drunken bender and wakes up horrified to find that he’s in bed with a geology book and had drunk dialed Stephen Hawkins one too many times.
We tend to like episodes that focus more on Raj and Howard since they are really our favorites when it comes to getting big laughs out of us and this episode did just that. Watching Howard squirm as the tables were turned on him at the Emily dinner was priceless and it we always like it when we see Raj have a win. Episode grade: B
