Even though “Pretty Little Liars” is going to be moving forward with its story in season 3, it will also be simultaneously looking back at its past. With that in mind, expect the show to address early and often during the season 3 premiere that it is the two-year anniversary of Alison’s death.
In a new post on Twitter, showrunner Marlene King says that Sasha Pieterse will be reprising her role as the dearly departed in some shape or form during the season premiere on July 5. What form will this be? That much is still very much a mystery. We have seen Alison in everything from flashbacks to dream sequences, and it is also hasty to assume that Mona is the killer just because she happens to be “A.” (In other words, the investigation is still very much ongoing.)
For those who have not heard, the premiere episode is entitled “It Happened That Night,” and will focus on an event that took place over the summer that is going to have serious ramifications for the Liars moving forward throughout the year. As to whether or not it leads to them getting any closer to finding out the truth about Alison — or who Mona has been working with — that is to be seen.
Who do you think is Alison’s killer at the moment? As always, check back soon for more “PLL” coverage.
