‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 6: On renewal hopes, possibly future for CBS drama

Tonight, “Hawaii Five-0” is giving you two hours of excitement, and it will be containing everything from an exciting case to a wedding to a major blast from the past for Steve McGarrett.

Is it possible that we also learn about the series’ future before the season 5 finale ends? It definitely feels that. With CBS making their upfront presentation just next week, there is not exactly a whole lot of time for them to make a decision on season 6, and there are also definitely a wide array of factors. For example, the ratings are not phenomenal, and it may not be all that cheap to film on location. However, the cast is still under contract, and you also have the show in syndication. There are many different factors here to be weighed.

We are always going to make a pretty simple argument when it comes to renewing “Hawaii Five-0” for another season, and that is the simple fact that it is a known commodity. You already know what the ratings are, and they are probably not going to change too much one way or another. Meanwhile, there is a whole heap of flexibility that can happen when you bring in another show out nowhere without much of a clue of how it could do. You have to prepare yourself for that when making big decisions.

Regardless of what happens, you at least got a whopping 25 episodes this season, and plenty of fun was had from start to finish. Now, we just have to wait and see that the network wants to do.
