‘Fear the Walking Dead’ spoilers: The latest casting scoop

AMC has been hard at work preparing “Fear the Walking Dead,” and one of the key components of that has been assembling the right group of people to play their newest survivors.

So who is the latest person joining the ranks? According to Entertainment Weekly, the newest name you should be looking out for is Mercedes Mason. She is best known for her parts on “The Finder” and “666 Park Avenue,” and is coming over here for a part that is … well, basically a mystery. In what should be a surprise to almost no one, the network and Robert Kirkman are not interested in revealing many details in advance.

To a certain extent, we imagine that Kirkman is having a certain degree of fun here with all of this mystery. Any time that there is a major slice of casting nice for his proper series on AMC, it takes almost zero time for the majority of his fans to figure out just what is going on, and who such person could be playing. Here with this casting, there is an added bit of mystery that he has not had the opportunity to have, since these castings are completely independent of almost anything in his comics.

“Fear the Walking Dead” will premiere this summer, and while it should be a pretty serviceable hit (hey, it does have “The Walking Dead” in the title), we are not altogether expecting that it will come anywhere close to the original series in the ratings. It should be happy with most numbers by comparison.
