‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: More on Dann Florek, Andre Braugher’s return
We are nearing the end of “Law & Order: SVU” with each passing week, and we are now at a point where there are only three episodes left and still some important cases to solve. Take for example the upcoming finale, which could feature Benson becoming a Lieutenant, and also some jeopardy for Baby Noah (which we never want to see).
Before we say too much more on that, though, let us speak more here about “Perverted Justice,” the upcoming 21st episode of the season airing on NBC Wednesday night. This episode features the big return of Dann Florek, and also a chance to see even more of Andre Braugher on your TV screen. In between this and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” we are ultimately thrilled to have as much of him as humanly possible.
In case you have not seen already the synopsis for this episode, you can check that out in full below:
“Bayard Ellis (guest star Braugher) takes on the case of a man incarcerated for incest and rape, whose daughter Michelle (guest star Samira Wiley), the victim and star witness when she was a child, wants to recant her testimony and set her father free. When a judge refuses to reopen the 17 year old case, the SVU turns to retired Captain Cragen (guest star Florek), who remembers the investigation and provides evidence that could change the convict’s fate.”
We do not necessarily expect there to be anything serialized in this episode, but given that we are dealing with an old case, this should make for some interesting opportunities to flash back to the past. Florek’s arrival helps to give you even more links to what the show once was.

The NBC contract situation with everyone on the show except for Mariska Hargitay remains unsolved also. It’s amazing that you can renew a show and yet have almost everyone in the cast unsigned for the next season. Did NBC renew it quickly because all the other networks were renewing shows and they were doing NOTHING? Now that it is almost certain that The Mysteries of Laura and State of Affairs will be cancelled and NBC will no longer be paying $200,000+ per episode to Katherine Heigl and Debra Messing(someone confirmed my worst fears that they were being paid that much) can NBC do the right thing and pay Kelli Giddish that kind of money? She has been a wonderful team player and has proven that she deserves to be paid that much. Will NBC finally realize how talented she really is and give her a long term deal. The day may come when Mariska might decide she’s had enough, and having Kelli ready to step in and take over would be wonderful. It’s time for NBC to stop cutting the legs out from under SVU(the payroll and budget have been cut for the last 4 years in a row; no explanation from NBC) and treat it with the respect it deserves.
