NBC’s ‘The Voice’ spoilers: What Koryn Hawthorne, Corey Kent White, Joshua Davis are singing

The latest -On tonight’s new episode of “The Voice,” the top eight are going to have a chance to not only perform, but be advised by a group of singers who really have been here before and experienced the highs and lows of mentoring on this show before: Cee Lo Green, Gwen Stefani, and Usher. All of them have been coaches, and they have all had contestants to at least go reasonably far in the competition.

So what are these contestants performing? Once again we are here with the song choices, even though it may be a little later than when we usually come on here and reveal them. There’s never any specific theme, and for the most part we’re okay with many of the tracks. At least if nothing else we don’t have half of the remaining contestants completely going through vocal overkill with songs that have been done practically a dozen times on other singing shows (any time we avoid that, we’re happy).

Sawyer Fredericks, “Simple Man” – The Lynyrd Skynyrd seems to be a good fit for Sawyer. It’s also from an era that matches his voice really well, and it has a different intensity to it than “Iris.”

Corey Kent White, “When I See You Smile” – Interesting choice. We like that it is outside of his comfort zone, but the lyrics are still so commercial that he can translate it into his style.

Koryn Hawthorne, “Girl on Fire” – It’s not the most original song choice (Alicia Keys in general is very overdone), but we really do like the potential it has for great vocals.

Joshua Davis, “Fields of Gold” – Risky move by Adam Levine to have his only artist left sing a Sting hit that many young viewers will not be familiar with. We’ll see if that pays off.

Kimberly Nichole, “Creep” – Sort of like with Koryn, we have heard this song done a lot … but she’s going to kill it regardless.

Hannah Kirby, “We Don’t Need Another Hero” – It seems strange on the surface, but like Tina, Hannah does have an unusual voice and stage presence. Maybe Blake Shelton knows something we don’t.

India Carney, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” – Love this idea. Rather than just trying to compete with the other belters, India picks a song whose strength is its sweetness.

Meghan Linsey, “Something” – It’s not the most popular Beatles song, but it’s the Beatles. It will go over well.
