‘Poldark’ episode 8 (finale) spoilers: Will Ross’ latest risk lead to great reward?

Sunday night, it all comes to a close on “Poldark” … at least for the time being. The BBC series has had a very successful run on TV over the course of the past several weeks, and it shows that there is still a market for quality remakes. In other words, you can make something feel brand-new again, without at the same time making it feel either incredibly cheap or exploitative. There is another, better way!

Unfortunately for Ross Poldark, there may not be any way at all to keep himself and his company out of massive debt during the season feeling. After having so much stripped from him, he may have to take on a huge financial risk, one far bigger than he anticipated taking months ago. However, in the process he may realize that there are some big rewards on the other side if he can find a way to make his business viable. However, in the wake of her withholding information from him at times, he does not seem particularly keen on sharing his latest exploits from Demelza.

What we wonder for the time being is this: Why keep information from Demelza at this point? Haven’t characters on the majority of TV shows by now learned that withholding information is never a particularly great idea? The majority of the time that you do that, you effectively set yourself up for trouble down the road.

Luckily, we already get the sense that there will be a chance for more of these stories to be told. The BBC has already ordered more of the series, so there is no need to worry about the end being near.
