‘American Idol XIV’ rankings: Clark Beckham, Jax, Tyanna Jones lead going into top 6 show

Clark -Tomorrow night, the remaining six contestants on “American Idol” will be taking to the stage to perform arena anthems. Yeah, the theme is a little wack, and we know saying that will probably lead to Harry Connick Jr. scolding us a little in regards to our word choice.

So who do we think is in the best position to advance to the top five, and get a chance to go on? Aside from the #1 choice, though, there is some flux among the remaining singers, and there is room for there to be a surprise boot depending on what we see moving forward. Performance quality is the most important factor, but we also have to think about voting history and personality to go along with it.

6. Rayvon Owen – No offense to the great Rayvon, but it is hard to put him anywhere else when Twitter has been responsible for keeping him alive the past several weeks. He probably has the biggest uphill battle to climb to make it to the tour. There’s no doubt he has the voice; we feel like his problems have come more in charisma and choosing the right songs.

5. Quentin Alexander – It stinks in a way, but this is not a show where controversy tends to help you. While the majority of people after the Harry fight seemed to be sympathetic to him, there were plenty who seemed to agree with Harry Connick Jr. We’re a little worried that Quentin could find himself going this week, even though his funky style is perfect for the tour.

4. Nick Fradiani – If Nick does make the tour, will someone hire his band to go along with him? We feel like he’s got a really great chance to make the top five, but we’re still waiting for the vocal that skyrockets him all the way to the top. He’s just not there yet.

3. Tyanna Jones – We felt like the longer Tyanna stays around, the better and better she becomes. While she has not necessarily shown the artistry yet of either a Quentin or a Jax, she and Rayvon are probably tied for the best pure voice this season.

2. Jax – Ever since struggling a few weeks ago she has totally hit her stride yet again, even to the point where anything other than a top three finish would be a disappointment. At this point, she’s really made her case for success after the show; she has the best chance of stardom out of anyone left thanks mostly to her attitude.

1. Clark Beckham – Clark at this point really just needs to be consistent every week and keep doing what he’s doing. If he does, he should be handed the title by Ryan Seacrest a little later on this season. He’s basically the consensus favorite to win, and it’s hard to argue that.
