‘Poldark’ episode 7 review: Death, a secret wedding, and Demelza’s consequences

We should star this particular “Poldark” episode review with the news that is generating the most immediate attention: Death has arrived on the show in the form of Keren. We cannot particularly say that we are shocked to see her go (she was not the most popular character we’ve seen on the season), but getting rid of anyone prior to the final still comes as at least somewhat of a shock.

Just in case losing a character tonight was somehow not enough for you, how about a wedding? Granted these two events did not happen at once a la what we tend to see on an episode of “Game of Thrones,” but Verity’s big wedding is a big move that changes her character. What also happened here, though, was that Demezla decided to take matters into her own hands in order to help in the marriage … without telling Ross in the process. She made a move for the betterment of two people, but did not consider the consequences in the process.

Thanks to this particular moment, we could see characters suffer with debt, and forced to take dire moves in order to preserve or even save her future. Poldark may be ruined for some time thanks to her move.

As a whole, this episode proved to be a sensational once since it was so complex, in particular when it comes to Ross and Demelza. What does it mean to be loyal, and does it matter what your intentions are? We do not think that Demelza is a terrible person by any means, but she has to realize that she may have to take great strides in order to get the trust and the admiration back. Episode Grade: B+ (slightly over-dramatic, but still).
