‘The X Factor’ UK will continue airing in America; AXS brings Simon Cowell series back

The latest news -For everyone in America who is still interested in seeing Simon Cowell on television, you are once again going to have that opportunity: AXS has decided to renew the British version of “The X Factor” on their network.

Are we that surprised by this? Hardly. This is one of the network’s most-notable programs, and it promoted the series pretty hard when it came on the air last year. While there are a glut of singing shows out there in between “The Voice” and “American Idol,” this was at least a chance for Simon fans to continue to see him on TV every week. Plus, we do find most of the talent on the British “X Factor” to be solid, and this show has produced stars a la Once Direction and Leona Lewis.

Granted, the structure of this upcoming season is still relatively unclear. While Cowell is returning, host Dermot O’Leary is out and cold be replaced by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack. Meanwhile, Louis Walsh has already announced he will no longer be a judge.

If there is one flaw with the airing strategy right now for “The X Factor” in America, to us it is airing the show a day-plus after it airs across the pond. By that point, everyone knows what happened. Why not air it the same time, just hours later? Think of it in a similar way to what BBC America does with “Doctor Who.” Maybe there are some rules in place for whatever reason, but that is the one thing that we would change. Of course, we’d personally love to see them all air at the same time, but that is almost surely not going to happen.
