‘The Flash’ episode 18 review: How was Emily Kinney as the Bug-Eyed Bandit?

Kinney -Tonight’s episode of “The Flash” was very successful in many different endeavors, with one of the primary ones being managing to cram a heck of a lot of content into a very short amount of time. The Atom and Felicity came to Central City, we had a chance to meet and defeat the Bug-Eyed Bandit, and Barry Allen determined that it was worth the risk to tell Cisco and Caitlin the truth about who Harrison Wells truly is.

Backing up, we’ll start by giving some props to Emily Kinney. Despite some hokey puns in her dialogue and not getting a ton of screen time, she was fun as Brie Larvin a.k.a. the Bug-Eyed Bandit. Also, it was nice to get a nemesis for Felicity for the first time since the whole incident with the crazy ex on “Arrow” earlier this season. Also, it was nice to get Ray involved in the story without all of the tension with him and Oliver. We like Ray as a character a ton, but the best thing he can do is be separated from everything in Starling City. Hopefully that will happen in due time.

Barry also happened to be a real friend to Iris, telling her this time that she was better letting Eddie off the hook a little bit than being hung up over something he was keeping from her … which of course involved the Flash. Did it really matter? Not really, since Iris still threatened a breakup over him. Was she being a little harsh on him? Possibly, but we understand where she is coming from.

Was this a wonderful episode of the show? Not entirely, since most of it is not going to matter in a few weeks’ time save for the final few minutes. At least it was still fast-paced, fun, and full of character moments. Grade: B.
