NBC’s ‘The Voice’ results: Did #VoiceSave help Deanna Johnson, Mia Z, Brian Johnson?
Tonight, “The Voice” is airing its first results show of the season, and the top 12 is going to be narrowed down to the top 10. While there was no easy way to predict what was going to happen, our feeling going into the show was that Hannah Kirby of Team Blake and Brian Johnson of Team Adam were going to be the two parties sent home by the end of the hour.
At the start of the episode, Carson Daly went ahead and announced the most predictable results of the night. Meghan Linsey, Sawyer Fredericks, and Kimberly Nichole were all safe. They were all in the top five in terms of iTunes sales overnight, so there was no need to worry about any of them. From here, things got more surprising as Hannah (Team Blake bump?), India Carney, and Joshua Davis were all declared okay for the week.
We’re going to go ahead and get to the three contestants who actually were in danger of leaving: Mia Z, Deanna Johnson, and Brian Johnson. We expected to of them, but Deanna? She sold well enough on iTunes to be likely safe, but she was still within the margin of error. We’re still bummed that Mia Z hasn’t gotten the love she deserves.
Now, it turns out that Mia also does not get the love she deserves with the save either. Deanna beat her out, which means that we have what may be the most shocking elimination on the show in years. De’borah may be the last boot we felt this angry about so early.

Will definitely miss her, thought she and Sawyer would be final two. Something is wrong with the way votes are being counted! No way she should have been eliminated

Totally shocked that Mia Z went home. She was my favorite by far. I expected her and Sawyer to end up in the final. Wow, what a voice. Amazing killer blues chops! I would love to buy an album full of music like her Voice performances.

I think talent is very good this year. Pharrell kept pointing out Mia’s rankings as a blues singer. Adam didn’t point out that Deanna is #1 on the Gospel & Christian charts. Her fans remembered and saved her.

If based on performance and long term potential, Mia should have been in the top 10. However, her talent is earthy while also sophisticated. That composition is easily perceived and enjoyed by some. For some, including those used to the in your face vocalist, Mia’s talent is harder to understand or appreciate. Mia will have a wonderful though inched career. Her talent is undeniable.
