‘Saturday Night Live’ music: Mumford & Sons perform ‘The Wolf,’ ‘Believe’

More news -At this point, Mumford & Sons have to be considered a “Saturday Night Live” favorite. Any musical guest who is asked to come back for another performance typically is, and we understand why you would pick them. They were one of the founders of the current folk-rock mainstream movement in our eyes, but as we’ve said before, one of the bizarre things is that they actually took a fairly hipster genre and made themselves so popular that hipsters don’t seem to enjoy them anymore.

What they performed here was “The Wolf,” a new song that we admittedly have never heard before. We didn’t find it to be as folksy as some of their past music, and while we respect not wanting to do the same thing all of the time, it also did not have the girth and the power to it from our vantage point that “Little Lion Man” or “I Will Wait” did. Still, it will probably sell millions.

As for the second song, it was a number entitled “Believe” that we enjoyed a little bit more. It still had more of a rock vibe than we’re used to, but we also did find ourselves attaching a little bit more to the lyrics of the song. We imagine, as well, that this will be far from the first time that we hear the group perform it.

The next show is going to air on Saturday, May 2, but there is unfortunately no choice for musical guest just yet.
