‘Supernatural’ season 10 debate: Should we have more of Jim Beaver’s Bobby Singer?

Bobby -This article is all about timing. Tonight, Bobby Singer makes a valiant return to the “Supernatural” world, and he is coming via an interesting manner: As Sam Winchester realizes that they need an x-factor in order to ensure that Dean is cured of the Mark of Cain, he recruits the help of Castiel to track Bobby down in Heaven.

This episode, entitled “Inside Man,” is the first time we’ve seen Jim Beaver on the show in a while actually playing the character. The last we saw him, he was more of a manifestation of Sam’s mind and not actually himself. It’s always great to see him, but how much is too much? Is there too much? This is a topic worthy of a little bit of discussion before tonight’s episode actually airs.

The case for more Bobby – This marks an opportunity to see a beloved character. We know few fans who don’t miss Bobby in some way; he is one of the show’s greatest characters, and we still feel like his death was one of the two or three most painful moments of the entire show. Beaver clearly wants to do more of the show, and there are always uses for someone like him. That’s the great thing about this particular universe; even if you are dead, you can still be valuable in your own way.

The case for less (or the same amount) of Bobby – You cannot start messing with the rules too much for the sake of temporary pleasure. Maybe you can say that you wish Bobby was still alive, but if you try to revive him or make him a permanent fixture, then it trivializes the death. His departure still has to mean something in the context of the show, even if we don’t want it.

What do you think: Should we see more, less, or the same amount of Bobby on “Supernatural” moving forward? Let us know in the poll below! Also, we had a little bit of fun writing about Misha Collins in our annual April Fools’ prank, so take a look at that over here.
