‘Supernatural’ season 10, episode 17 video: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and ‘movie talk’

Who knew that Sam Winchester was such a discerning critic of French film? This is the question we find ourselves asking after watching the latest “Supernatural” preview below … or at least it is the main one of many questions.

The truth here is that there are two very different ways in which to view this promo. From one vantage point, you can see this as some fun Winchester shenanigans for Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles characters (and we always love that!), where they have the back-and-forth banter that we’ve grown accustom to. It’s like chicken soup for the primetime soul! Sam wants to see a movie that Dean doesn’t want to, and he’s willing to take a road trip away from him to make it happen.

Now that we’ve said that, we feel that it’s painfully obvious that there’s is an ulterior motive here, so painful in fact that Dean would be crazy to not realize it. Maybe he does, and simply doesn’t care. This episode will feature Sam teaming with Castiel to try a new means of solving Dean’s Mark of Cain dilemma, and eventually Bobby is going to be involved. Fans of Jim Beaver, rejoice!

While Sam is gone, Dean will have some problems of his own with a character he has not quite faced off with person-to-person yet. This should make for a pretty great episode. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like we are going to have a literal manifestation of the monster in Sam’s possibly-mythical French film. That’s a shame, since it sounds like it would be a ton of fun to watch.
